Teacher of the Year Finalists Announced

The finalists for the 2004-2005 East Baton Rouge Teacher of the Year Awards were announced and recognized during a luncheon on Tuesday, August 3rd at the Country Club of Louisiana.
Finalists for Elementary Teacher of the Year seen here with (L-R) Dr. Margaret-Mary Sulentic, Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services--Area 1, are Christine Rollins of Melrose, Deborah Marchand of Cedarcrest-Southmoor, Suzanne Mire of Parkview, Kendra Perry Moore of Jefferson Terrace, and Liza Armshaw of Southdowns.

Finalists for High School Teacher of the Year are (L-R) Lena Burrows of Istrouma, Myra Fontenot, Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services--Area 3, Betty Selmon of Belaire, and Laree Taylor of Northdale Academy.
Winners will be announced at a reception hosted by Volunteers in Public Schools on Thursday, August 26th, at 4:30pm.The reception will be held in the Baton RougeMagnetHigh School auditorium, 2825 Government Street. The reception is sponsored by Neighbors Federal Credit Union.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
