Now’s The Time To Register For School - June 16, 2009

Sharpen those pencils!  Break out the book bags!  It’s student registration time once again in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

All new and transferring students MUST register before school begins on August 7.

To register, simply go to your nearest school or the EBR Central Office located at 1050 S. Foster Drive.

The following documentation is needed to register:

• Birth Certificate
• Social Security Card
• Immunization Record
• Proof of Residence (i.e., a power bill, phone bill, etc.)
• Transcript from a previous school (if transferring from out of parish)

If English is a second language, students must register with the English Second Language (ESL) Office at the Instructional Resource Center, 1022 S. Foster Drive.

As required by law, a child must be 5 years old on or before September 30 to be eligible for kindergarten.

Those students scheduled to attend schools now in the state’s Recovery School District that were in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) last year can choose to remain in the School System.  Provisions will be made for those students to attend another nearby EBRPSS school.  Please make a decision early and let us know because space is limited!

Registration Forms Available Online

In order to expedite the registration process, the registration form is available online, Student Registration and Data Verification Form.  A parent's signature is required; therefore, a form cannot be emailed or submitted online.  A parent should complete and sign a form for each child and take the form to the nearest EBRP school or the EBRPSS Central Office, 1050 S. Foster Drive, Baton Rouge, LA  70806.

For more information, call the registration hotlines, (225) 922-5578 or (225) 226-3463, or log on to www.ebrschools.org
