VIPS Apple Awards Nominations Due Friday, March 4

Principals and volunteer coordinators, don’t forget! Apple Award nominations are due to the Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) office by 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 4. Individuals can nominate outstanding volunteers and partner organizations to offer the recognition they deserve and keep them coming back to the school year after year.
Those interested can make a nomination on-line at vips.ebrschools.org or print out a hard copy and fax it to VIPS at (225) 226-4710. VIPS also accepts nominations via interoffice PONY mail (Red 42), postal mail (4070 Tunica Street) or in-person drop-offs during regular office hours.

Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
