Westdale Middle School Celebrates Classroom Additions

Westdale Middle School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for its newly constructed quad. The quad is located along the Claycut Road section of the school near Jefferson. It consists of six classrooms that are 800 square feet each. The total square footage is 6,965. Participating in the ribbon-cutting celebration were (left to right): Westdale Middle School Principal Sherry Brock, CSRS/Garrard Program Management Program Director Earl Kern, Kyle Kramer of Fusion Architecture, East Baton Rouge Parish School Board President Jerry Arbour, former district Superintendent Charlotte Placide and Assistant Superintendent of Middle Schools Katie Blunschi.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
