Westdale Heights Elementary Students Hold 5-Star Celebration
- October 22, 2009
On October 15, students and staff at Westdale Heights Academic Magnet School had their cake – and ate it, too – while celebrating recent state performance score increases. The increases moved the site from a four-star to a five-star school, according to the State Department of Education. It is one of 13 schools in the state to achieve five-star status this year. Cake and refreshments were served to students and staff during lunch, including (photo, front row, left to right) Jayden Hardnett, Principal Cheryl Singer, Mary Grace Young, Tamiko Darensbourg, Sam Richard, Alvin Donaldson, (second row, left to right) Vocal Music teacher Keith James, Matty Tuttle and Amanda Richter. Singer also awarded special five-star pins to all the school's teachers.
