WHAM Staff Surprised by Realtors with Celebratory Luncheon

Westdale Heights Academic Magnet School’s staff and administrators were surprised by a luncheon recently to celebrate the school gaining five-star status this year. The Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors sponsored the event.
Westdale Elementary is one of only 13 schools in the state to achieve five-star status this year. In the fall, Singer also awarded special five-star pins to all the school's teachers.

Winfield, front row – Assistant Superintendent of Area I Elementary Schools Paula Fabre, Mark Akckin of GBRAR, Mary Kay Brown of GBRAR, School Board President Jerry Arbour and Westdale Heights Elementary Principal Cheryl Singer.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
