Woodlawn High French Teacher Receives Foreign Language Grant

Genedi Shamburger, a Woodlawn High School French teacher, is one of two recipients of a mini grant sponsored by the Louisiana Foreign Language Teachers Association (LFLTA). Funds from Shamburger’s $500 award will be used to purchase a color printer, ink cartridges and supplies. These items will be used by French III and French IV students to write, illustrate, print and assemble modern French fairy tales
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
